Bio Fuel.. Like it or not
Posted at 10:42 by James Roberts

It would seem that like it or not we are all using Bio Blended fuels in all forms of engine driven transport

The last to hold out have been the aviation and off shore industries, predominately due to the much higher risks associated with engine problems.

Marine Gas Oil or MGO will have a mandatory Bio content from 2011 while Jet A1 aviation fuel has so far tried to remain a pure hydro Carbon.

Kingsbury Fuel terminal near Birmingham recently had a seepage of Bio Fuel into Jet A1 through shared distribution Pipelines.

This Seepage resulted in temporary closure of the Birmingham International Airport while all fuel was tested.

The Current limit for Bio Content in Jet A1 is one liter in ten thousand. With the increase in Bio Fuel usage the Joint Inspectorate Group for Aircraft are calling for higher levels of Bio to be made acceptable for Aviation Usage as prevention of this seepage is impossible.

Compounding this is that the traditional methods of Bacterial control in Liquid fuels, i.e. Biocides are proving more problematic to control and coupled with the amount of countries that have banned the usage due to their proven health risks.

Powerpro Fuel Technologies along with our research Partner Pure Fuel Technologies are providing environmentally sound solutions that have been accepted for off shore and are currently under testing for Aviation Use.
